The Scouring of the Club

Ok, so perhaps not the apocalyptic ending to The Lord of the Rings, but the last two weeks have seen Riddlesden Cricket Club's clubhouse be reduced to an empty cold, damp shell. The interior has been stripped of all contents and the walls laid bare with plaster and insulation torn down. For some, this has brought back painful memories of five years ago when the place was burnt down by vandals. At least this time there's still a roof...

But as in the Shire in Lord of the Rings, things will improve. The clubhouse will be rebuilt. The club will see happier times. The floods will be something remembered, talked about, probably even laughed about. Those who helped right the devastation will feel pride in their efforts, and those using the facilities in future will, hopefully, be thankful that they made that effort.

And at some point we'll party - to celebrate the rebirth of Riddlesden Cricket Club. Who's up for it?
