Tenser than it ought!

Following last week's abandoned cup match against Skipton CI (where we did very well before the rain came, scoring a good 201-7 with everyone chipping in with a few runs), this week third place Cowling were the visitors.  They won the toss and chose to bat first.  Initially this seemed a sound decision as they approached 50 for the loss of just one wicket, but then two in two balls from the very impressive Moin (5-46) knocked them back a little.  Arshad then came to the fore, picking up a brace to leave Cowling teetering on 77-5.  Mirza Ali plundered a quick 55 including 3 sixes to up both the score and the run rate, but fell to Gully (3-17) with the score on 149 which is where it ended as Gully took the final wicket with his next ball.

Target 150 - a sub-par scoreline for our ground so could the batters do the business.  It wasn't a great start as debutant Muhammed Aniq hit a six, four, out to leave us on 10-1 after two.  Ehsan though was in form.  Kamran departed for 16, Arfan for 11, Omar added 15.  But throughout, Ehsan played calmly and assuredly playing some excellent drives along the way.  We had a wobble towards the end, losing two quick wickets when only needing nine from ten overs, but Ehsan saw us home safely with an excellent unbeaten 67.

Maximum points again at last, and against one of the top teams.  This has pulled us back into the mix, and though still only in 7th place, we visit Haworth next week and they have been struggling badly so far this year with just a single win (against bottom placed Wilsden) to their name.  At home it's 1st against 3rd as Gargrave come to town.  So far they've been imperious - will Eldwick be able to slow their charge to the title?
