Charlotte, Emily, Anne - your boys took...

Haworth made a mistake on Saturday. They won the toss and asked us to bat. It didn't go well...

With another new look opening pair of Kamran(33) and Tayib(28), Riddlesden started brightly putting on 55 for the first wicket in good time. A bit of a stutter occurred as both fell along with last week's hero Eshan in the space of just 7 runs. But Arfan (38)and new signing Aqeeb Khan scored rapidly, Arfan hitting 4 fours and 3 sixes and Khan getting 47 from just 31 balls including 8 fours and a six. Then came the real power show as Saqib dominated! In a 55 ball innings he smashed 12 fours and a massive 9 sixes before finally succumbing as the last to fall for a magnificent 112. The score at the end was a huge 306 all out and Haworth must have been ruing their decision to field.

Moin (2-20) continued his good form, removing both openers , leaving the score at 28-2. Zullie (1-18) bowled his usual economical session and took a caught & bowled chance to make it 30-3. There was a brief spell of resistance from Charlie Jackson but Arshad(2-13) removed him and Oliver Bishop. Meanwhile, Ayan Ahsan at the age of just 15, had his first bowl for us. And took five wickets! What a start! This led to a crumbling of Haworth's batting and they limped to 80 all out, a massive 226 runs behind!

So, an excellent win, great batting and bowling, far more reminiscent of last season. Furthermore, Eldwick beat top of the table Gargrave (quite comfortably) and second placed Hepworth and Idle also lost. The table is opening up a bit. We may still be in 6th position but the gap to the top is now down to 35. And it's just reached the half way stage!

Next week we visit Haworth Road - currently in 4th place and coming off the back of a good win at Bradley. If we can get a good win there though, we could well leapfrog them in the table. It already feels like every match is a must win if we want to clamber up the table!

At home, Eldwick take on basement team Wilsden, heavily thrashed on Saturday by Glusburn. But they did beat Eldwick in the cup!
