Highs and Lows
A mixed bag this week I'm afraid.
On the one hand, the clubhouse is coming along nicely. It has new doors and windows, it's been fully decorated, the new heating has proved very effective and we're ready for the seating and bar to be fitted shortly. The refurbishing of the changing rooms is also underway, as too are the toilets. All in all the club's off-field facilities are going to look great by the time the new season begins.
But on the other hand... This weather is still causing so many problems on-field. Last weekend was the first since the floods where there wasn't standing water on the pitch. Plans were made to finally remove the silt from the square this weekend, but then the snow came. With that melting, and 24 hours of rain, the pitch is once more submerged. Also, whilst this continues we cannot begin replacing the fencing (all of which was washed away - there are just two posts left standing!), nor address the quagmire that was once the path to the clubhouse.
There's only six weeks until the new season - we'll have a great bar and changing rooms, but will we have a pitch for the cricket to take place on? One dry week - that's all we need. Come on weather gods, help us out!
