It's beginning to look a lot like... cricket?

Well, compared to our last blog it certainly is! Last time out we were praying for some dry weather so we could work on the pitch. I'm pleased to say we got that dry weather (to the point that the sprinklers were on at the weekend!) So at last the square has been scraped clear of silt, and a good power-wash later the grass has begun to grow back. Much of the debris from around the site has also been cleared, the outfield is much less 'squelchy', there's no standing water anywhere, and in general things are progressing nicely.

Internally, the clubhouse is nearing completion. The bar is in place, the framework of the fixed seating is done, the heaters installed and working (very effectively!), and the remaining wiring, plumbing, carpeting and painting is all scheduled for the near future. Once that's done we can empty the changing rooms and fix them up too - they need a bit of work but they'll be sorted by the start of the season.

We still have the path (much drier now, but still needs replacing), the pitch-side fencing, car parking area and preferably the roof to do (plus a general lick of paint to spruce things up for those long, hot sunny days just around the corner) - but overall I think everyone's pretty excited by the way things have gone in the last couple of weeks.

Stay positive - and keep an eye out for the grand re-opening!
