Rain Stopped Play. And Didn't. Grrr!

British weather! Just can't depend on it can you? This week it once more stopped the first team in their tracks when things were going pretty well, yet failed to rescue the second team when they obviously deserved rescuing. Though I confess, this is all being written by someone who wasn't at either game - so over to the scorecards!

Let's start with the first team over at Foulridge. I hope nobody is offended if I say the team was somewhat weakened this week with a number of regulars unavailable. But fair play to those who stepped up to the plate and filled the gaps, when the weather intervened Riddlesden were handily placed on 130-7 with 10 overs remaining. Foulridge have only managed to exceed that twice this season so I'm counting this one as a psychological win, even if we only got a point in the table.

Meanwhile back at home, an also weakened second team chalked up their highest score of the year so far with 128-9. Sadly this wasn't to be enough against top of the table Long Lee, but still a worthy try, and heading in the right direction. Against weaker opposition this could well have been a comfortable win.

Notable performances this week go to Aftab Khan with 49 not out (and surely would have been a half century had the rain held off a little longer) for the 1st team. This brings Aftab's average up to 61 - not bad! In the 2nds, a half century for Dale Pinkerton (57) that isn't going to be taken off him like last week's! Also a mention for Steve McGarry with three catches behind the stumps - good effort (though a bit outshone by Long Lee's keeper taking five, let's not dwell on that)

On to this weekend. We have the first team travelling again to face Oakworth. I'm sure everyone would like to see us get a first win there! And the seconds are home to Cononley - a tough ask once more as they are flying high in third place.
