Up and Running

Good things come to those who wait, and after rather too long a wait, the first team now have their first league victory! It was a tight affair, Riddlesden's 202 for 8 was just enough to win with one ball and 4 runs to spare. And not only was it a win, but thanks to other results we leap off bottom spot and out of the relegation zone altogether - great going lads.

Sadly the second team fared a bit worse. Well, much worse truth be told. After a steady start they eventually succumbed to just 76 all out. Cononley reached their target without too much trouble, so let's chalk that to a bad day and move on. And whilst the cricket may not have gone as we would have wanted it, the club was well supported this weekend with a very busy patio and clubhouse, bolstered by a quick visit from Chatburn Cricket Club thanks to our old friend Mick Hawkes!

Star performers of the day: Without a doubt it was Aftab Khan again. A fantastic knock of 95 - including 11 sixes - and would have fully deserved a century. But not content with that, Aftab also picked up 3 wickets and a catch! Pretty busy day. Also showing strongly was Naveed Hussain with 36 runs, 2 wickets, a catch and a run out.

For the seconds, Dale Pinkerton picked up another 31 runs, and Imran Mehrban bowled tightly conceding just 12 from his 5 overs.

On to this week's matches and we have the first team facing the ever challenging Ingrow St Johns at home. The second team travels to bottom of the table Eldwick & Gilstead CC.

Good luck lads!
