Owz Stat?
So it's July at last - summer, strawberries, bumble bees, Wimbledon... And naturally given the British summer weather both our games this week were rained off. However, I was prepared for such an eventuality as I've seen many British summers before and now just how they behave. So, let's look at the star performers so far this season!
Batting
There's one stand-out performer in the 1st team - Aftab Khan is doing exceptionally well having scored 217 from just 5 knocks. Aftab currently sits top of the 1st division statistics on average score and 8th for total scored, and his high score of 95 suggests a century is easily within his reach later in the year.
The 2nd team sees Dale Pinkerton top scoring with 137. Not bad considering he's also represented the 1st team a number of times, scoring a further 38 for them.
Player Runs Hi-score Average
Aftab Khan 217 95 72.33
Zahid Mahmood 152 41 21.71
Mohammad Qadeer 133 29 19.00 (+ 31 for 2nds)
Goher Ayoub 120 31 17.14
Naveed Hussain 119 38 19.83
Dale Pinkerton 137 57 45.67 (+38 for 1sts)
Steve McGarry 111 49 15.86
Danny Kernan 51 17 8.50 (+ 8 for 1sts)
Shehryar Hussain 50 30 12.50
Stephen Bailey 46 24 15.33
Bowling
A three-way tie for most wickets in the 1st team with Mohammed Zulfiquar, Naveed Hussain and Mohammed Arshad all taking 15 so far. Zulfiquar edges it on economy (average number of runs scored off each over), but between the three of them there's some great bowling options.
For the 2nd team Mohammad Qadeer leads the way with 8 wickets, but special mention should be made here as he also has 7 wickets for the 1st team - so he too has 15 overall for the season! Akeel Rashid has had a couple of promising games lately propelling him to second place, and Danny Kernan is improving rapidly - when taking into account the 3 wickets he has for the 1st team with the 7 for the 2nds, Danny has exceeded last year's haul already!
Player Overs Wickets Economy
Mohammed Zulfiquar 44.2 15 2.44
Naveed Hussain 73.5 15 2.80
Mohammed Arshad 74.3 15 3.46
Mohammad Qadeer 24.4 7 3.81
Aftab Khan 21.0 5 6.14
Mohammad Qadeer 38.0 8 2.24
Akeel Rashid 13.0 7 4.00
Danny Kernan 40.0 7 4.88 (+3 for 1sts)
Imran Mehrban 28.0 6 3.46
Darren Shields 25.2 6 4.46
Fielding
Just a quick mention here for the two wicket keepers - both Jamie Fullwood and Steve McGarry have matched last season's performance by halfway. Having watched the first team last week, their catching was top notch. Maybe the seconds need a bit of practice...

Summary So there we have it. Most will find this dry and boring, but those players listed will savour the numbers, bask in the glow of mathematical delight, and long to climb those numerical divisional stat tables.
To everyone else, the first half of the season started slowly with many struggles (not least in getting enough players to field two teams), but now sees two competitive teams that should - if everyone pulls together, the weather holds, and we get that little bit of luck - have an excellent second half to the year.
Stat's all folks!
