Wet Wet Wet!

No, not Bingley Music Festival - though that was too. No, Saturday. Damp? Yes, it was a bit. So very damp in fact that not a single match took place in the Craven League. This obviously included our two teams who, despite the rain, had to turn up in order to claim their solitary point for the abandoned games.

But what a point it was for our second team - with that point they ensured they would not be relegated this season, so congratulations and gold(coloured - you didn't win the league after all) stars all round!

The first team I feel would have quite liked to take on Oakworth and beat them for the second time this season, or at least try to. Not to be unfortunately, but there's still the all important match against Ingrow St Johns this weekend!

As usual this season, the rain only interfered with Saturday's play. If only we'd had a game on Sunday. But wait, we did - sort of.

For the third time in four weeks, Riddlesden Cricket Club played host to a charity event with a friendly game of cricket taking place before much merriment was had via stocks and wet sponges! Raffles, tombola, barbeque and cake stall (well done to Ellie on that!) rounded out a good day, and raised yet more money for a good cause. Well over a thousand punds has been raised in the last month - thank you to everyone involved. Next season we'll try to be more organised in getting the word out on these events because everyone seems to enjoy themselves, and the more the merrier!

There's not a lot more to be said about last weekend, so let's move on to this weekend - the penultimate round of fixtures!

As mentioned, the first team travel to face Ingrow St Johns in a game that will almost certainly determine which team finishes in 8th place, and which in 9th. There's a good amount of rivalry in this fixture so the lads should be eager to take the win. Recent form suggests they're good enough, as long as they remain focused.

At home, we have the second team for the final time this season. Their opponents, Eldwick & Gilstead, are desperately fighting for survival at the foot of the table so will doubtless be up for this match. So why not come down to see if your Riddlesden 2nd team can bid farewell for this year in style?
