Totally Batty
Now that the 2016 season has drawn to an end, it's time to talk statistics again! I'm sure every player will be well aware of their own figures, but let's take a wider look and see who achieved the best individual results this year.
Whilst doing well personally is something all players strive for, it should be remembered that cricket is a team sport, and good though it is to score plenty or take many wickets, they don't in their own right equal success. Context (blocking out for 5 runs, or bowling 2 maiden overs without taking a wicket may swing the game!) and overall result also need to be taken into consideration, which these figures can't provide.
Still, let's enjoy them anyway!
Batters this week, bowlers next week, fielding and highlights the week after - sound good?
Player Innings Runs Average Team Mohammad Qadeer 21 459 22.95 1st & 2nd Dale Pinkerton 17 455 28.44 Mostly 2nd Aftab Khan 16 453* 34.85 1st

*note: Aftab's score includes 83 attributed to Adam Khan...
Now let's see what some of the club stalwarts did!
Steve Kernan 13 144 11.08 Vice Chariman Jamie Fullwood 14 104 9.45 Club Captain Stephen Bailey 13 87 9.67 Vice President Greg Ellis 5 23 7.67 Chairman Ian Brown 2 6 6.00 Treasurer
So that's the traditional stats, but who else impressed? Who had the highest top scores...
Aftab Khan 95 Closest anyone got to a century this season! Aftab Khan 71 Wrongly attributed to Adam Khan, but we know the truth Dale Pinkerton 69 In a 129 opening stand with M Qadeer Dale Pinkerton 64 In another century partnership (126) with M Qadeer Ehsan Khan 62 Not out! Mohammed Gulnawaz 60 Not bad batting at no.8
Also in the half-century club are Zahir Abbas and Mohammad Shahnawaz (3 times!)
Finally, who was stubborn? Who clung to their wicket like a barnacle? Who 'dug in'?
Imran Mehrban 6 times not out, from just 11 innings! Zain Naeem 6 times also, mostly filling in for the 1sts Stephen Bailey 4 not outs as you'd expect from Steve Howard Packer 4 times not out - half the times he batted!
So that wraps up the batting. Plenty of players not mentioned, but all your runs counted in one way or another and I hope you all enjoyed your time at the crease. And if you're not on here this year, there's always next season!
