Winter crawls on - but spring is in the air?

I've noticed this week that the days are getting longer. Whilst still dark when I set off for work in a morning, it's light as I arrive there. And it's now light when I return home. I've checked the calendar and it looks like it's still only February. Ages until the new season then!

Well, not really. Nine weeks...

Winter nets are progressing well (Sundays @ Bingley Grammar - noon) though numbers aren't as high as would be liked, so anyone players out there who want to brush off the cobwebs, you know where to start.

Jobs are steadily being ticked off the list(s) each week, but still a lot to be tackled. Outdoors stuff is being deferred until it's a bit warmer/drier, but internal tasks are gradually being whittled down. There's some bigger projects to cover in the next few weeks though, such as replacing ceilings and painting changing rooms/fences/building exterior. As ever volunteers will be warmly greeted and will obviously feel a sense of self-satisfaction - and who could want more than that?

Want to have an input? We hold a monthly meeting to discuss all things cricket and club related. The next one is Saturday 18th Feb (so tomorrow as I write this - not much notice I know). We'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas, so if you can't make it in person, get in touch via email (RiddlesdenCricket@gmail.com) and we'll sift through the mailbag no matter how many hundreds of suggestions we receive!

Finally, I know the blog is a little lightweight at the moment, and the website (that I'm sure you all visit every day!) hasn't had much activity recently, but it's winter. It's cold, and dark and damp, and in the cricket world not a lot happens really. Over the next few weeks I expect a stirring in the darkness - spring will begin to creep in, the grass will need cutting and we'll suddenly be in a mad panic trying to get ready for April 22nd.

And then I'll have to start writing a lot more...
