Welcome to the number game!
I will now entertain and delight you with a series of numbers that encapsulate the entire season, whether you like it or not. It will be fun. You will love every minute of it.
First up - Batting
We have seen some excellent batting performances this season, just not regularly enough. With more consistency, we wouldn't have found ourselves struggling so much. But let's celebrate those who shone - in particular, congratulations to Akeel who is the first Riddlesden player to score a century since 2015. He told us at the start of the season that he wanted to concentrate on batting this year, and it's clearly paid off. Also another good season for Dale - on a par with last year in almost all respects and just missing out on a century himself. Ibrar Ali has had a good first season with us - hopefully he can push on next year.
Player Innings Runs Average 50s 100s High
Akeel Rashid 19 528 31.06 3 1 107*
Dale Pinkerton 17 434 27.13 2 0 91 Mohammad Qadeer 19 306 17.00 1 0 85 Mohammad Shahnawaz 7 157 22.43 1 0 70
Ibrar Ali 13 155 12.92 1 0 61
Steve Kernan 12 150 12.50 1 0 67
Zain Naeem 15 135 9.00 0 0 31
Danny Kernan 12 101 11.22 0 0 34*
Now on to the bowlers.
Unfortunately this is the area that we struggled with this season. We had problems taking early wickets, resulting in the opposition being able to attack in the later stages of the game. Also, we missed the efforts of Darren and Bob through injury for much of the season, and with Akeel (successfully) concentrating on batting, we lacked an element of control once the opening bowlers were withdrawn. Zain has bowled a lot of overs this year with a measure of success, but that economy rate needs to improve a lot. Dale's not had much chance this year as the weather hasn't been conducive for spin.
Player Overs Wkts Runs Economy
Mohammad Qadeer 193 26 580 3.01
Mohammad Shahnawaz 76 23 210 2.76
Danny Kernan 110 21 518 4.69
Zain Naeem 121 15 645 5.34
Akeel Rashid 74 13 413 5.54
Dale Pinkerton 65 9 301 4.63
Darren Shields 32 8 116 3.53
Bob Morrisroe 62 7 212 3.42
Finally, the fielders
This season's main problem area - fielding. Fortunately for many of our players, dropped catches are not recorded, Otherwise there would be some very embarrassed people reading this. We dropped a lot this year. Still, we did do some things right in the field, so let's tot up the totals. Special mention should go to Zain who not only took the most catches, but also didn't drop a single chance. Zain will be running the fielding training next year then - attendance should be high...
Player Catch Runout wk-catch wk-stumping
Zain Naeem 10 1 - -
Jamie Fullwood - - 10 1
Dale Pinkerton 6 1 - -
Akeel Rashid 5 0 - -
Ibrar Ali 4 1 - -
Mohammad Shahnawaz 3 1 - -
Bob Morrisroe 1 0 3 0
And that's about it for the stats. Good reading, yes? Check the articles from last season (I did three last year, each discipline had it's own - but we had two teams then...) to see how they compare.
