Not a lot to talk about from last week's game, except well done to Foulridge for confirming it was off before we left for the long journey there. Somehow Crossflatts managed to complete their game in the 1st Division, but otherwise it was a complete washout throughout the league - how very English of us when it comes to cricket...
Training was well attended on Tuesday and we have a few more new faces to add to the mix. More work has been done on the ground (unsafe trees felled, rough areas mowed, etc.) and strenuous efforts were made to recall what items we provide in the player teas - if all else fails there's a chippy down the road!
There was also a little drama on Thursday when the Yorkshire Air Ambulance used our pitch as a landing zone to deal with an incident outside the Co-op. Clearly the pilot was a cricket fan as he put down well away from the square. But seriously we, and I suspect all sports clubs, are happy to allow the use of their pitch for this service - it's a sensible option and often the largest clear landing spot around.
This week we are at home to Thornton in Craven, and the weather is looking a little kinder than last week (despite the persistent rain on Friday) so here's hoping the match not only starts this time, but actually completes too and we emerge victorious!
