The Sun has got his hat on...

Another scorcher! Under dazzling blue skies and in blazing sunshine, Riddlesden made the trek over to Haworth in good spirits after last week's performances for a bottom of the table clash.

Confidence was the highest it has been all season and having won the toss and elected to bat, the team began amassing runs in style. A fine 57 from Mick and 48 from Qaddy provided a great start after the early loss of Steve Kernan. Chowdhory (24) and Akeel (34) maintained the pressure on the Haworth bowlers and everyone else in the team chipped in with valuable contributions too. Of particular note, Ibrar continued his good form from the previous week with (I'm told) a very good knock of 31. At the close, Riddlesden had posted a very impressive 281 - 9

After such a good performance with the bat, the Riddlesden bowlers were in the mood to make the win stick. Much to Danny Kernan's delight as a 'trainee' wicket keeper, Habib bowled with real pace, and at the other end Zain was swinging the ball 'miles'. So a bit of a baptism of fire for Danny, but he coped and will have learnt a lot from the two bowlers. Both picked up 4 wickets apiece from their 12 over spells, ripping through pretty much the whole Haworth team before Gully finished things off with a run out and a catch off Chowdhory, leaving Haworth all out for just 63. So a huge 218 run victory margin which keeps us level with Glusburn and Embsay, and just behind Oakworth - and puts wind in our sails!

This weekend we have a home game against Foulridge who are having a good season and only lie in midtable due to a 9 point penalty deduction - so this will be a challenging match up and will show us how far we've improved and how much more is yet to be done. Then next Tuesday is our long awaited trip to Crossflatts for the Keighley Cup quarter-final. Win that and we have a finals day!
